Modi Government has decided to
examine the Rajiv Awas Yojna which started in the UPA tenure. The quality of
more than 1 lakh houses built and built under this scheme will be examined. The
Central Sectioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) created for the Prime
Minister's housing scheme has asked those states to follow it, where the
projects of Rajiv Awas Yojana have been completed or projects are underway.
What is Rajiv Awas Yojana?
During the previous tenure of UPA
government, the UPA government had started Slum Free India Mission, which was
meant to make the country slum free till 2022. Under this mission, Rajiv Awas
Yojana was started. After the formation of the Modi government, this scheme was
merged with the Prime Minister's housing scheme.
What is Progress Report?
The latest report of the Ministry
of Housing and Urban Affairs shows that under Rajiv Awas Yojana, 162 projects
are running in the states. Of these, 1 lakh 17 thousand 707 houses were
approved. Out of this 46611 houses have been built. About 26234 people are also
living in houses. 44225 are building houses. 26871 The task of building houses
is to begin now.
Why given order of Investigation?
In the 30th meeting of the
Central Sectioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) constituted for the Prime
Minister's Housing Scheme, it has been found that the Third Party Quality and
Monitoring Agency has not yet been appointed in many states and UTs. Therefore,
the Central Committee has told the states to appoint an agency in their state
as soon as possible. Not only do the quality checks along with the monitoring
of the projects of the Prime Minister Housing Scheme but also the quality
testing and monitoring of Rajiv Awas Yojana projects from this agency.
Target of 2 Crore Homes
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), there is a goal of making 2 Crore million homes across the country. This house is to be built by 2022. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has been given this responsibility. Rajiv Awas Yojana has also been included in this scheme. The Ministry report says that under PMAY, about 3 lakh 19 thousand houses have been built, including houses built under the Rajiv Awas Yojana.
